The Premier and I would like to update you on the current Covid-19 situation.
Vaccine update
Today the Government of Anguilla signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UK Government for the provision of the Pfizer vaccine to Anguilla. This significant development means that we will very soon be in a position to offer booster shots for vaccinated residents and vaccines for children aged 12 – 17, as well for any remaining unvaccinated adults.
We remind everyone that the Ministry of Health is asking for persons with children between the ages of 12 and 17 and those who would like their first dose to register their interest for vaccination on the Ministry of Health website.
We are working to receive delivery of the Pfizer vaccine this month. This delivery will also include a further batch of AstraZeneca vaccines for those awaiting their second dose.
Household Spread
Current data tells us that since 08 August, 58% of the positive cases have been due to exposure in households, 15% from exposure in the workplace and 12% from social contacts. We are confident that the arrival of the Pfizer vaccine will be a significant step in protecting all of us.
Please continue to follow the public health measures, such as wearing a mask when outside of the home. Be vigilant when at home, particularly if there are unvaccinated minors and the elderly living under one roof. Consider common touch points within your home such as door handles, kitchen and bathroom taps, television remotes, electronic devices and computer keyboards:
? regularly disinfect surfaces and common touch points;
? sanitise and wash hands frequently;
? as much as possible social distance; and
? minimise the number of people gathering in your home.
Be alert to family members who may be showing symptoms such as headache, scratchy throat, cough and runny nose or lack of taste or smell. If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, please isolate immediately and get tested.
The Ministry of Health hotline on COVID-19 is 1-264- 476- 7627 that is 476 SOAP, or 1-264- 584- 4263, that is 584-HAND.
The Ministry of Health will publish guidance and information at www.beatcovid19.ai
May God bless you and may God continue to bless Anguilla.
