A visit to Island Harbour Bay may surprise you. It has never been so clean and immaculate in recent times, given the influx of sargassum or seaweed that had hidden its serenity in the not-too-distant past.
From the curved beachfront, in front the line of adorning coconut trees to well into the inshore azure waters, it is a most beautiful spectacle. Against this arresting background is a cluster of colourful fishing boats telling a story about the fishing village that Island Harbour is.
When The Anguillian newspaper visited the area early Thursday morning, June 10, the sea was calm as it can be. Not a ripple disturbed the inshore waters or hardly swayed the boats – moreover bringing in any kind of debris to defile the spotless beach. In fact, there app
eared to be no debris at all in the water.
High commendations are due to a number of patriotic persons of Island Harbour who clean the beach every morning. These persons are members of the Hope Webster family; Edmeade Smith and others.
