Dear Editor,
I write to humbly and openly share my opinion that the order made by EXCO to force persons to be vaccinated is not right.
From January 2020 to now, Anguilla’s safety has been attributed to messaging, medicine, wisdom, science, diplomacy, common sense and more. But, Mr. Editor, way above all of those things combined, it needs to be acknowledged that we’ve had, and are still experiencing, a miracle from God in Anguilla right before our eyes. I posit that our safety is a miracle where God has black boxed us in from a year of global horror.
To make steps to enslave persons to live with something injected in their bodies that they are not in agreement with – is not something I believe God is smiling about. Whether people are wise or foolish, educated or ignorant, informed or misinformed, they are still people with a right to put what medicine they wish to put or decline what medicine they wish to decline being put in their bodies.
Many Anguillians believe in The Bible, Mr. Editor. It teaches that God sent His Son Jesus Christ who died and that his blood cleanses and washes people from sins. And if people apply the blood of Jesus to their lives they will be saved, healed and delivered.
Mr. Editor, not even God forces the precious Blood of His Son Jesus on the people of the world. He gives “whosoever believeth on Him” the choice to “have everlasting life”.
For the government to intervene and make a unilateral decision for everybody’s own personal physical body, which each has to give an account for, Mr. Editor, in my spirit, that’s wrong. I would emplore the Government of Anguilla to refrain from forcing such measures on people and/or penalising persons who oppose taking the vaccine – otherwise I believe the GoA runs the risk of making God unhappy.
Our help has come from God, so far, and He will continue to make ways to protect and provide for us – if we treat people right.
Loving God and Anguilla,
Avenella
