The Anguilla Enhancement Project “AEP” hosted a soft launch, closed event, for invited guests on Friday 20th November 2020. The purpose of the soft launch was to inform community representatives and representatives, from established community groups, about the “Best Village Competition” and other slated events for 2020-2021. Mrs. Nakishma Rogers-Hull, President of the AEP, told guests that the purpose of the competition was to encourage the communities around the island to activate, organise and work towards the goal of beautifying and modernising Anguilla, in an environmentally sustainable way, to make Anguilla the most beautiful and modern place to live and visit.

Vice President of the Organisation, Ms. Moira Masshardt, gave attendees a breakdown of the criteria for the main competition, and informed participants that once the Organisation raised the necessary funds there would also be other competitions throughout the upcoming year-for Village with the Most Christmas Spirit, Village with Best Jollification Celebration, Most Patriotic Village and Village with the Best Hurricane Preparedness/ Recovery.

Ms. Meesha Richardson, Marketing Officer of the Organisation, unveiled the AEP’s tentative calendar for 2020-2021 to those in attendance, and encouraged everyone to follow the AEP’s social media accounts – and to use social media to promote their own community events and activities.
The Executive Assistant, Ms. Louise Fayet, and the Financial Officer, Ms. Isabel Curtis, were on hand to explain the registration process which is free for this launch year.

The initial team, informally organised in 2018, – was brought together by Mr. Kenroy Herbert a well known anti-litter activist and present Chairman of the Anguilla Tourist Board. Mr. Herbert is still affiliated with the current team and chaired the evening’s proceedings. Other founding members included Mr. O’leary Richardson and Mr. Rickiell Hodge (who is still an Associate member). In bringing this great idea to fruition, President Mrs. Hull indicated that it was important to give talented and qualified young persons a seat at the table – and thanked everyone who played a part in the A.E.P. from inception to present.

The A.E.P. partnered with the Anguilla Tourist Board to launch to the general public, during the week of 23rd November 2020, to promote its events, the competition – and to raise awareness about the initiatives that the Organisation intends to take action. The AEP also intends to highlight and promote its sponsors namely, Hon. Miss Deeann Kentish-Rogers, Davida’s Restaurant and Pink Mako.

Any person or business interested in sponsoring an event, or a prize, or making a financial contribution to this effort, can contact the AEP at ehancementproject@gmail.com or call at (264) 583-8147.
