His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Tim Foy, OBE, has issued a Proclamation, dated June 6, 2020, summoning the first session of the Twelfth House of Assembly meeting on July 17.
The Proclamation follows the just-completed June 26 and 29 District and At-Large (or Island-wide) elections. In the polling, the Anguilla Progressive Movement, led by Dr. Ellis Webster, won seven of the elected constituencies: Districts 1, Island Harbour; 4, Valley South; 5, Road North; and 6, Road South; and three of the At-Large seats, thus forming the newly-elected Government of Anguilla. The Anguilla United Front, led by Mr. Victor Banks, won three seats – Districts 2, 3 and 7; and one at At-Large seat, becoming the strongest Opposition grouping in the history of the Anguilla House of Assembly.
Premier Dr. Webster and his Cabinet members were sworn in by Governor Foy, in the Executive Council Chambers, on Tuesday, July 1, the day after the elections. The AUF Leader of the Opposition, Mrs. Cora Richardson Hodge, was sworn in on Wednesday, July 2.
There will be a second swearing-in ceremony in the House of Assembly on Friday, July 17, following the election of a new Speaker.
