The warm hospitality of Anguillians was a hot topic recently in Toronto as the Anguilla Tourist Board and several hotel partners undertook an impressive sale blitz.
The events included sales training sessions at tour operator call centres plus visits to a host of blue-chip travel agencies such as Carlson Wagonlit, New Wave Travel and Travel Network. In addition, the team made presentations to two Visa Card fulfillment call centres and to some of the country’s leading incentive travel houses. A travel agent appreciation evening and a media cocktail reception rounded out the agenda. “In all, we and our hoteliers met with over 350 key travel influencers,” says Marie Walker, Director-North America for the Anguilla Tourist Board. “And we’re delighted to see the media coverage has already started coming in!”
In the past four years, tourists from Canada have been on a steady increase, with last year seeing an impressive 17 percent increase. “This year, we’re thrilled to see the numbers still on a steady rise,” commented Dale Pusching, the ATB’s Director of Sales for Canada. “For the first seven months of this year, we are up 18 percent over last year.” Thanks to ATB’s efforts in Canada, there are now four Canadian airlines serving St. Martin and four Canadian tour operators featuring Anguilla.
Participating in the sales blitz were: Carimar Beach Club, Cuisinart Golf Resort and Spa, Frangipani Beach Club, Shoal Bay Villas, Viceroy Anguilla and Villa Kishti. “And a special thanks to Heather Gumbs of Carimar and Becky Haskins who made the journey from Anguilla,” said Pusching.
