The recently restored historic Ebenezer Chapel was abuzz with the sound of Christmas last Sunday evening, as a large and appreciative audience was on hand to witness the annual staging of the Festival of Choirs of Methodist Church in Anguilla. Items were presented by all six congregations in the circuit. They included choir selections, duets, solos and a dance presentation.
Dressed in festive colours, the choirs performed many of the traditional carols of Christmas as well as some more contemporary selections. One of the best received items was a solo presentation by Sis Joanne Snagg of the Maranatha Congregation, but the highlight of the evening was a dance presentation by the Girls’ Brigade Company from the Zion Congregation to the well-known carol ‘Joy to the World’. This was repeated at the end of the programme by popular request.

Organists performing for the various choirs were Devaunie Richardson, who was the main musician for the evening, Lennox Vanterpool, Sis Joan Lloyd and Percy Romney.
The closing remarks were made by Rev E Dunstan Richardson, one of the retired Methodist Ministers on Anguilla, who challenged more men to join the choirs. Rev Clifton Niles, another retired Methodist Minister, gave the closing benediction and congratulated the congregation on the restoration work at the chapel which he was seeing for first time.
Chairman for the programme was Rev Wycherley Gumbs, Superintendent Minister of the Circuit. The opening devotions were led by Rev Wilmoth Niles Circuit Minister.
