The Community Relations Department of the Royal Anguilla Police Force, in collaboration with the Education Department, The Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School Campus B, and other social partners on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd September 2019, conducted its 12th Youth Development Program.
The programme focuses on the Form 1 students each year at the ALCHS but extended this year to Form 2 students. The program is geared toward building the social capacity of the students as they enter secondary school. For the duration of their school day, students were exposed to sessions on Anger Management, Sexual Health, Respect and Discipline, Nutrition, and Hygiene and Bullying. Presentations were made by representatives from the Health and Nutrition Department, school nurses, Probations Department, pastors, teachers, and others who were previously involved in the programme.
The programme was supported by many businesses and individuals throughout the community who donated both in-kind and financially. Additionally, many individuals volunteered to ensure that refreshments were prepared for the students on the day of the program.
The Community Relations Department extends sincere gratitude to all those who contributed, made presentations, and assisted in any way to the programme’s continued success. Special thanks to the principal and staff of the ALHCS for having the students ready and available for the sessions.
A total of 158 students, or 92% of the expected student body, benefitted from the programme on Monday, and 174 students, or 87 %, benefitted on Tuesday.
