The Anguilla Community College honours the final alumni of the ACC at 10 Campaign, Mrs Shanelle Brown.
Mrs Brown has demonstrated the determination and dedication that embodies students of the ACC. She attended the college in 2014 while pursuing her associate’s degree in business studies.
A wife, mother and entrepreneur, Mrs Brown’s decision to attend the ACC was a challenging one. Mrs Brown was determined to grow as an entrepreneur and she understood the great benefits of furthering her education and ensuring that she was up to date with current trends that could complement her business endeavours.
Attempting to balance work/home life, a business, and the responsibilities of a diligent student wasn’t easy in the beginning, but Mrs Brown was disciplined on her journey and made the most of her time at the ACC.

Mrs Brown credits the comradery of her peers and lecturers at the ACC with making the feat bearable as well as enjoyable. “I knew that returning to a classroom meant adjusting my life, but my peers and the staff understood me and comforted me from the very [onset].”

After completing her studies at the ACC, Mrs Brown was committed to employing the skills and theory she learned in the daily and long-term planning of her business, HiTek Designs. “I knew I wanted to improve my skills, but I couldn’t [fathom] the idea of leaving [Anguilla] to attain my degree. The college was always going to be my first choice.”

Guided by faith, family and sisterhood, Mrs Brown is an advocate for female empowerment. She ensures that she is always engaged in an encouraging and positive environment. As a member of Inspired Souls, an Anguillian women’s empowerment non-profit, her goal is exactly that: to shed light in every way she can onto the paths of others.

Mrs Brown, like many, is excited about the ACC and the plans they have outlined for Anguillians. “… the development of the new facility is first and foremost”, she said, after commenting on the successful rebranding of the ACC. She looks forward to the college’s expansion and the increased opportunities that will be available.

Shanelle Brown endorses and recommends the ACC – “Building People, Community, Nation”.
