There was a huge turnout of employees at Resorts and Residences by CuisinArt on Monday, August 26, for the property’s 20th Anniversary and Staff Party.
Smartly attired in black, for the double occasion, the employees have just emerged from a busy tourism season and, like their counterparts at other resorts on the island, are taking a break for what is commonly referred to as the “slow season”.
They have not gone home without special recognition. Many of them won awards and giveaways besides sharing in the camaraderie and partying that the 5 pm to 12 midnight event provided – as well as the musical entertainment by Boss and DJ Sugar.
A special feature was the recognition of almost fifty employees who have been at the resort for the entire the 20 years it existed on Anguilla, thus benefitting from steady employment in the tourism industry.
President and Managing Director of the Resort, Mr. Stephane Zaharia, commented: “This is the employees’ party which we have every year – but this is a very important one because we are actually celebrating our 20th Anniversary in December. For us, celebrating that with our staff is the best way to congratulate everybody for a great job.
“Obviously, we have gone through a lot of things, these past two years, with the reopening of the property [following Hurricane Irma], but we had a very good season and we are looking forward to having a fantastic year, 2020. This is the first day of our closure on the 25th of August – and we are reopening entirely on the 27th of October.”
A number of employees received awards for May, June and July, the Resort’s Third Quarterly Celebration. The winners were: Kindra Gumbs of the Spa; Lavedano Richardson of Culinary; Huekeemi Hughes of Watersports; Richard Connor of Landscaping; Jacqueline Brooks of Food & Beverage; Irwin Reid of Purchasing; Team Leader, Laurence Hodge, of Turf Maintenance; Supervisor of the Quarter, Kyra Gumbs of Front Office; Manager of the Quarter, Fran Baker of Beach Pool and Watersports.
The overall Winners of the Season were – Employee of the Season: Jaymisha Mercer; Team Leader of the Season: Bill Hughes; Ambassador of the Season: Garmon Greenaway; Supervisor of the Season: Lester Gumbs; and Manager of the Season: Ruth Carty.
