For 20 years the Anguilla Library Service has provided the youth of Anguilla with unwavering excellence in summer education opportunities through the CLASP (Children’s Library Annual Summer Programme) Summer Camp.
The Anguilla Electricity Company Ltd. (ANGLEC), which is a long-standing sponsor (covering t-shirts expenses each year, as well as other items for staff and participants), applauds the two decades of commitment shown by the staff and contributors of the CLASP Summer Camp.
Each year the facilitators find new ways to expand upon traditional summer reading programs, to include diverse learning activities and extracurricular opportunities for children ages 5-12, while accommodating families’ needs for flexible and fun summer opportunities. The camp teaches the vital life-skills of problem-solving, teamwork, creativity and more.
“This year we added to our sponsorship by giving a reusable shopping bag, with a few tokens from ANGLEC, to each teacher”, noted Jemila Morson-Hodge, ANGLEC’s Public Relations Officer. She continued:
“It really is impossible to repay them for all they do each year but, in an effort to extend our support, we paid a special visit to the organizers and some of the participants. We were able to see the work done by the students, and the joy when they spoke about their experiences made it clear that the two weeks of camp are extremely impactful and should be widely celebrated. There are several needs for the future of the camp, from volunteer assistance, to the procurement of additional supplies as enrollment in the program continues to grow. We encourage other community players to join us in making contributions in upcoming years”.
ANGLEC is proud to have contributed once again especially on this 20th anniversary of a programme that does so much for Anguilla’s young people. Special thanks is extended to all persons who ensured that this year was a success.
