Anguillian Facebook videographer and broadcaster, Mr. Lloyd Gumbs, has been deservedly awarded by the Anguilla Security Board for his outstanding and voluntary contribution to the dissemination of information and events – not only across the island but further afield to the Anguilla Diaspora.
The special presentation was made to Mr. Gumbs on Tuesday, July 16, by Ms. Rosanna Bowne, Social Security’s Public Relations Officer, during a press conference to announce her organisation’s Summer Festival sponsorships.
“We have in our midst an individual who, over recent years, has been doing a phenomenal job for the Anguilla community,” she said in part. “That person took it upon himself to ensure that the Anguilla Diaspora could be in the know with what is happening in and around Anguilla. I am sure you can guess who that individual is.
“We at the Social Security Board have been paying a lot of attention to that individual who has been doing a remarkable job in promoting events so that Anguillians at home, regionally and internationally, can tune in and know what is happening on the island.”
Ms. Browne was assisted by Mr. Carlyle Franklin, Acting Director of Social Security, and others, in awarding Mr. Gumbs. He was presented with a Certificate of Recognition; an unlimited 120 gigabytes of data for one month to cover the Anguilla Summer Festival events; and a stuffed family basket of grocery delights.
Visibly moved by the commendation and recognition paid to him, Lloyd managed to say: “Thank you”, while being videographed with his own equipment on his Facebook page.
