The students and teachers at the Alwyn A. Richardson Primary School enjoyed a week of activities leading up to Anguilla Day. Beginning on Monday, 27th May, volunteers from the community showed the students how to make old-time toys such as kites, rollers and bird traps. Teachers were also taught how to make brooms from thatch, sticks and string – and students participated in an Essay Writing Competition. ?

On Wednesday, 29th May, the school held a programme for its Anguilla Day Celebrations. This began with flags flying high to the song ‘We’re Out to Build a New Anguilla.’ Items on the programme included a guest speaker talking about the Anguilla Revolution, choral speaking and the recently crowned Primary School King of Calypso performing his victorious song. The programme’s grand finale was a fashion show where students paraded their Anguilla costumes to the rest of the school and a selection of staff and managers from Four Seasons, (who were also the judges for the contest.

A lunch for all the students was kindly hosted by Four Seasons Resort.

The students, staff and principal of Alwyn A. Richardson Primary School enjoyed the week of activities, and would like to thank everyone who played a key role in making this such a success.?
