Principal of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS), Mrs. Rita Celestine-Carty, has now been notified by the University of London (UoL) that she has fulfilled all the requirements and completed the Master’s Programme in Applied Educational Leadership and Management (AELM) with Distinction.
Further, Mrs. Carty has been advised by the UoL that she is to be the recipient of an Achievement Award for being one of the top performers in the AELM Programme in 2018.
This is the second Master’s Degree conferred upon Mrs. Carty, the first having been earned in 1992, some twenty-six years ago, from l’Université des Antilles-Guyane, Schoelcher Campus, in Martinique. This Programme was also completed with Distinction.
Mrs. Carty commenced her course of study at the UoL in 2015 just before acceding to the post of Deputy Principal, Pastoral at the ALHCS. The studies were undertaken with a view to enhancing the quality of service she could provide as a member of the Senior Management Team.
Mrs. Carty is indeed unwavering in her commitment to the ALHCS, and sees the exposure to and completion of a programme of this nature as an important support for her continued service to education in Anguilla. She is confident that the ALHCS can go from strength to strength with the conscious and deliberate collaboration of all stakeholders. The School is deserving of such regard that would ensure its uplifting and sustaining. After all, it is the island’s only comprehensive secondary school and as such constitutes the entire secondary system of education on Anguilla charged with the formidable Mission of providing every secondary school-aged child on the island with “first, a wide-ranging curriculum that will allow all students the opportunity to excel, and, second, a personal development programme that will prepare all students to take their place as responsible individuals with the skills and attributes to contribute positively toward Anguillian society and an increasingly globalized world”.
Mrs. Carty would like to thank all those at home, at school and in the community who supported her endeavours and facilitated the successful completion of her course of study. She is particularly grateful for the sponsorship of the Government of Anguilla. She looks forward to the continued partnership of all as the ALHCS continues to aspire to achieve its vision of being a positive, warm, predictable and safe school environment where educators and students are respectful, responsible and resilient, where learning is truly valued and creativity and innovation are the norm.
