The Parents-Teachers Association of the Orealia Kelly Primary School (OKPS PTA) celebrated World Kindness Day on 13th November 2018 by rewarding students, grades and classes for entries which they made in a competition called “My Act of Kindness”. The entries varied from written pieces to works of Art.
The overall winner was Mr Shomaur Hodge of Grade 4S/J.
Mr Hodge, created a Kindness tree with its branches and roots being symbolic of the ways to spread kindness and the characteristics from which kindness grows, springs and spreads. For his creativity and demonstration of Kindness, he received a G-Card (gift card) from Gadget City, sponsored by K.C.W et al Law Firm and Hush Heavy Equipment.
2nd prize for best overall entry went to Ms Merlia Smith Connor of grade 4S/J, who presented her Globe of Kindness with its reach defying water, distance and time. In addition to the overall best prizes, each grade from 1 to 6 had a winner and each class which participated had a winner. Prizes ranged from certificates to gift cards.
Recognition was also given to Grade 3K, Teacher Kristy’s class, which submitted the most entries for any one class, numbering 14 in total. Teacher Kristy is one of our many committed, hardworking, technologically innovative and resourceful teachers, who we celebrated by gifting a 32” flat screen TV and DVD player for her class, sponsored by Gadget City and K.C.W et al Law Firm.
Gadget City, together with K.C.W et al Law Firm and Hush Heavy Equipment, also awarded the Kindergarten and Special Educational Needs Classes gifts of 32” flat screen TVs and DVD players.
The OKPS PTA extends a special thank you to The Anguillian Newspaper for featuring this excerpt and for positively promoting our teachers and students. We also wish to thank all teachers, students and parents for their participation, help and support in this project and in particular their promotion of acts of kindness in everyday life and interactions. We trust that these acts will not stop here, but will continue so that every day will be Kindness Day and will offer new opportunities and reasons for us to love, assist and be kind to each other.
