The Caribbean Development Bank has provided an opportunity for Anguillian civil servants to access online courses in Public Policy Analysis and Management; Project Cycle Management; and Monitoring, Evaluation and Procurement.
Over 80 persons, from across the Anguilla Civil Service, have registered for the courses, with some taking one or two, while others have registered for all the courses. As part of the courses, it was arranged for the civil servants to engage in face-to-face sessions as a follow-up to the online courses.
Over the next few weeks, there will be modules covering Project Appraisal, Project Planning and Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluating, Risk Management, Managing Technical Assistance Projects and Procurement.
At the end of the training period, there will be a two-day introductory Train the Trainers Session which will focus on training skills for course participants who are not professional trainers.
Earlier, there were model 3 sessions on Advanced Policy Analysis and Management for Permanent Secretaries and other Senior Decision-makers.
Mrs. Ludiane Leveret-Richardson, Chief Procurement Officer in the Ministry of Finance, was the main organiser of the sessions in collaboration with the CDB.
She commented: “As the Chief Procurement Officer, I have a vested interest in all the areas offered as project management is essential to the success of the procurement exercises – as procurement interest does not just end with the award of contracts. The Procurement Officer is very interested in proper contract management which encompasses the project management aspects. As such, it was very important to us that as many persons as possible are exposed to the various aspects of the listed courses. We hope that persons completing the courses apply the theory in their everyday functions.”
