CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Anguilla branch and the Anguilla Cancer Society have teamed up for this year’s Walk For The Cure.
CIBC First Caribbean is a major supporter of regional cancer organizations in the fight against cancer.

The walk, benefiting cancer organizations in Anguilla and throughout the region, is one of several which take place annually in September and October in the 17 countries in which the bank operates. The walk is also held to coincide with the Canadian Cancer Society’s CIBC Run for the Cure sponsored by the bank’s parent company, CIBC.
CIBC has been supporting this event for more than 20 years, donating millions to breast cancer research in Canada.

President of the Anguilla Cancer Society Mrs. Jennifer Gumbs said, “The Anguilla Cancer Society would like to thank CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank for their generous contribution of T-shirts toward the Breast Cancer month walk”.
“CIBC FirstCaribbean has always assisted the Anguilla Cancer Society (ACS) and for that we are truly appreciative. I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to other businesses to come on board and support the cause as the society strives to financially and psychologically meet the needs of those affected by cancer,” she said.

Mrs. Gumbs added that the “medical bills alone are very expensive and pose a burden to many families. As CIBC FirstCaribbean prepares to leave Anguilla the society is appealing to other businesses to fill that void. Join the fight today! Once again thanks to CIBC FirstCaribbean”.

The fundraising and cancer care and awareness raising event has generated over USD$1.75 million in sponsorship and donations over the past six years and is seeking to add in a major way to that total at the end of the walks and various activities this year.
Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, St. Maarten and Turks and Caicos Islands had to cancel their walks last year due to the devastation caused by hurricanes Irma and Maria.

The CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure is now in its seventh year.
Individuals can contribute to the cause by purchasing a Walk For The Cure T-Shirt at the CIBC FirstCaribbean branch in The Valley or from any member of the Anguilla Cancer Society.

Each individual will pay US$10.00 which entitles him/her to a Walk For The Cure T-shirt and water.
The route will be from the CIBC FirstCaribbean branch in The Valley left at the Mahogany Tree stop light to the Shoal Bay Roundabout, back through Stoney Ground, down the Queen Elizabeth Avenue left at the NCBA Roundabout and back to the CIBC FirstCaribbean Building.

The walk starts at 4.30pm

All funds raised will go towards the Anguilla Cancer Society to assist in the fight against cancer.
