Drag Racers of the Anguilla Motor Sports LTD. recently returned from what is known as one of the most competitive and enthusiastic events to take place at the St. James Drag Raceway in Charlestown, Nevis. On September 29th & 30th, drag racing enthusiasts from the region travelled to Nevis to celebrate the 10th Anniversary Independence Drag Race Meet.
Although there were a number of shortcomings for the Anguilla team, kudos can be given to Valentine “Val” Brooks who captured 1st place in the “11 sec class” with his TurboMazda 626. He was the only non-Kittian/Nevisian racer to secure first place in the many drag racing events. Eric Milot of SXM was the other non-Kittian/Nevisian to place, upsetting an almost clean sweep for the Kittian/Nevisian racers. He placed 2nd in the 9 sec class with his Supercharged V8 Mustang.
The President of the Anguilla Motor Sports LTD., Mr. Preston Brooks, and members, are expressing special thanks to the Department of Sports, Anguilla Air and Sea Port Authority, Patrick Mardenborough, MV Mr. RAY, Arian Freight Services, and all other supporters, who assisted with their travel to Charlestown, Nevis, for their participation in the 10th Anniversary Independence Drag Race Meet.
The Anguilla Team comprised: Ojevoni Mussington , Nishara Payne, Patrick Niles, Shellice Niles, Deanthony Niles, Demitri Niles, Kimron Mills, Derain Gumbs, Samuel Niles, Delroy Carty, Valentine “Val” Brooks and Sheldon Brooks.
The Anguilla team, through this medium, is expressing thanks to the Nevis Drag Racing Committee.
