More than 225 children at Vivien Vanterpool Primary School and the Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School, are starting off the school year with new supplies and backpacks from guests staying at Four Seasons Resort and Residences.
Over the past few weeks, guests at the resort have packed a variety of school supplies into new red and blue logoed Four Seasons backpacks. The supplies in each backpack were based upon the grade level from K to Grade 5 including: a composition book, ruler, pencil case with a pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue, water bottle, and dictionary. The guests also wrote notes of encouragement to the students, wishing them a great school year and letting them know how much they love their Anguilla. The guests, both adults and children, provided their mailing address in hopes that the students will send a follow up thank you letter to let the guests know something about their island, that the children appreciate tourists, and they hope the guests will return to Anguilla.
The backpacks were delivered by Four Seasons employees including Billy Cueto, Resort Manager; Gina Thomas, Director of Residences; Dorla Hodge, Director of Human Resources; Alvin Nazario, Director of Engineering; Sheila Paugh, Area Director of Finance; and Dylon Heyliger, Purchasing Manager. Jaimee Connor, Events Coordinator at the resort, oversaw the entire program and orchestrated the deliveries.
Now in its sixth year, the “Backpacks & Giveback” program is just one of the many ways the resort and ownership support the local community.
“Giving back to the community is an important to Four Seasons,” stated General Manager Jose Adames. “We continue to seek ways to support our island, our employees and residents. We hope these school supplies and encouraging notes will brings smiles to the children of Anguilla as they begin the new school year.”
