A contingent of Scouts closed out their term with a camp from Friday, July 6th to Sunday, July 8th, 2018. The tents were pitched on the lawn of the residence of our Chief Scout, His Excellency the Governor Tim Foy, and Dr. Foy.
Yes, it was a camp, not in the usual type of setting, but it gave the Scouts an excellent opportunity to practice their cooking, swimming and interpersonal skills in particular, as well as engage in educational sessions. The sessions focused on Working Together as a Group (Group Dynamics), Managing Your Time (in all spheres of your life), Being a Responsible Digital Citizen, and were facilitated by Ms. Sharon Richardson, Mrs. Anita Ruan and Ms. Rebecca Haskins respectively.
Saturday evening was a special highlight when the Scouts tested their abilities of being a gracious host to a team of nine invited guests (the Chief Commissioner, five leaders, and three Cub Scouts) at a specially arranged dinner on the lawn of Government House.
At the evaluation on Sunday morning all Scouts were able to express two things they had learnt and can use in their daily lives.
Sincere thanks must be expressed to His Excellency Tim Foy and Mrs. Dina Foy and to Ms. Latoya Scarbro.
But summer activities are not over for the Scouts of Anguilla. July 21st -22nd, they will travel to St. Martin to join scouts from French St Martin and France in their Grand Case Day activities and the Rover/Venture Scouts Anniversary celebrations. Shortly after, the Anguilla Scouts will host a team of the French Scouts from July 25th to August 3rd. A BUSY SUMMER 2018!
