If the graduation ceremonies at the various schools were an award competition, there is no doubt that the winner would have been the Adrian T. Hazell Primary School.
Known for its excellence in graduation ceremonies and the hard and glamourous work put into the event, the school moved its graduation and awards ceremony to the spacious Church of God (Prophecy) on the Queen Elizabeth Avenue on Wednesday evening, June 27. The move provided ample space for the event, though occasioned by damage done to the school’s auditorium by Hurricane Irma.
The sanctuary area of the church was an array of certificates, awards and prizes and elsewhere the school’s colours, motto and theme of the graduation ceremony – “Nothing is impossible. Just do it” – were liberally displayed across the walls of the church building. The procession of the 44 graduating students, followed by the teachers, was heralded by a contingent of flag-bearing and unformed Cadets, complete with their firearms.. The school’s Principal, Mrs. Tracelyn Hamilton, was recently adjudged Public Servant of the Year and was further honoured for her Inspirational Leadership –characteristics she demonstrated in the school’s graduation ceremony.
The elaborate programme was filled with announcements of academic and sports awards, speakers and other activities for the occasion. There was a long list of outstanding students for academic and sports awards, among them beig the Valeditorian, Sage Connor and the Salutatorian, Anna Despinos.
The Principal and Staff of the school used the opportunity of the programme brochure to extend heartfelt gratitude to various persons and businesses for their kind contributions. Among them was the Elected Representative, Mr. Curtis Richardson, who told The Anguillian newspaper that he was happy to have contribute US$1,000.00 to the school towards the professional development of its teachers.
