For the 18th year the Anguilla Soroptimist Club held a Reading Workshop for some 24 students, many who were leaving the primary school to attend Campus B of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School. The Workshop which was held for the past two and a half weeks assisted students with reading and comprehension skills.
Soroptimist Stella Horsford has organised the Workshop for many years with the help of other Soroptimist members. She thanked the students for their attendance and the parents for cooperating. She urged them to continue reading as they will need the skills in all subjects at the secondary school and wished them good luck at Campus B.
At the conclusion of the Workshop on Wednesday July 25, Jackie Connor, an Education Officer, presented a certificate to the Soroptimist Club past president Olive Hodge in appreciation of holding the Workshop for the past 18 years. Connor also commended the students for their diligence and hoped they were proud of their work. She advised them to continue to learn more and engage in any reading activity.
This year the contestants for the Miss Anguilla Pageant assisted the Soroptimist members with some of the Workshop’s sessions.
