FLOW Anguilla has donated a washing machine to the Place of Safety, a Government institution for girls needing protection and guidance.
Mr. Sanford Richardson, Commissioner of Social Development, said there was a need for more equipment but, at the moment, the washing machine would suffice. The girls are in school and need assistance with their uniforms and ordinary clothing.
“They have been without a washing machine for almost six to nine months now, following Hurricane Irma,” he explained. “As I understand it, Senior Social worker, Lorraine Gumbs, happened to be in the right place at the right time. She heard the right things and therefore the offer was made by FLOW Anguilla to contribute to this very needy cause. We are thankful to FLOW for stepping up, as a corporate citizen, and doing its duty.”
FLOW Anguilla’s Country Manager, Mr. Desron Bynoe, commented: “We are happy that, as I always maintained, part of our mantra, is connecting communities and transforming lives and this is what we are here to do. We saw a need in the community and sought to fill this need. It is no greater feeling than to give back especially to those less fortunate in their times of need.”
Mr. Bynoe was accompanied at the brief presentation ceremony by two of FLOW’s visiting executives.
