I will be always grateful for the many persons who assisted me over the years. I have no personal grudges towards anyone. However, I was not placed on this earth to be loyal to mankind but only to the Almighty. I have no personal agenda. My purpose is simple and that is to uplift and help others. When I see my people struggling and being looked down on and not cared for, it moves me. I could do like many and stay in my comfort zone, lap my feet and say nothing. If I did that I would not be true to the real reason for my existence here on earth. I am equipped with a heart of compassion to help others and help them become what they were created to be. I consider this my divine purpose and something I can relate to. However, for those of us who have plenty, it is difficult to understand the lives of persons who have very little. “The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.”
We were brainwashed to never know who we are as a people. It is no secret that our history is a history of oppression. The goal of oppression is to devalue the oppressed and break their spirits. That is to control our thinking until we surrender. However, when someone is willing to fight that means his or her spirit is not broken. Sadly, there is a general feeling on this island that leadership is only for an elite group of people who are superior to us. No matter how much you qualify yourself, they will tell you to stay in your place. They look at your pigmentation, hereditary and see you as second or third class citizens in your own country. So the poor man and the oppressed are being sandwiched by the so-called black and white elites who have no compassion whatsoever for them. They display false humility in public to fool you and pretend to love you, but behind closed doors they make their decisions to keep you in mental bondage and from elevating yourself, or even seek ways to eliminate you. If we do not “emancipate ourselves from mental slavery and free our minds”, we will forever believe what they have taught us, rather than know who we are ourselves. We are all leaders in our area of gifting, wonderfully made by the Creator to do great works for Him.
We will encounter difficult people in our life and will inevitably come across difficult situations. You will be successful if you do not carry around the weight of personal grudges. Grudges get heavier the longer they are carried. Don’t spend useful time thinking about what others did to you. Accept the fact that not everyone is going to like you and they will do things to try to break you. You still have to love them, even if it is from a distance. If you hold on to personal grudges, you will do more harm to yourself than the person who did you wrong or who has something against you. I am not going to allow the actions of others to fill myself with bitterness, envy, strife or un-forgiveness to drag me down. I have to take the high road and rise above the storms. I always echo the view that your enemies do more to promote you than your friends. In a nutshell, in order to lengthen your life and live in alignment with The Most High, always “do good over evil”. There is an old African proverb that says, “If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm.”
There is a distinction between your job and your work, although many persons use the words interchangeably. Your job is what you do to pay the bills. Your work is an “expression of who you are and your purpose on this planet. This is what you were born to do. This is where your heartbeat is. This is where your love, passion, excitement lie. This is what gives you the adrenaline rush”. Your job is your skill, but your job is your gift of talent from God. Your job is your calling, whereas your work is your calling. You can be fired from your job, but you can never be fired from your work. In other words, no one can fire you from being yourself. You can retire from your job, but you never retire from your work. Work is something you become. It is your life’s purpose. Everyone was given a talent to solve specific problems here on earth. Work is ultimately about uplifting and helping people, and caring for people is life’s ultimate purpose. No one gets to the top alone. We all need help. However, when some persons reach that top they forget the small man who helped them get there.
Whenever you step of out your comfort zone to take the lead to fix a situation within your society, that will disturb the status quo, you will be ostracized, despised and called all sorts of names. Despite the naysayers and detractors, one has to be a voice of reason. First, one has to have the courage and wisdom to know that you do not have to become emotional about something you are called to fix. If you do, you will lose the fight before it starts. One thing I will never forget is where I came from. However, I will not allow my hereditary or the opinions of others to determine my destiny. In fact, people’s negative opinion cannot change your divine potential. No purpose of Him can be stopped. God’s gifts and His calls are fully guaranteed.
