On Sunday afternoon, April 8th, the St. Augustine’s Anglican Church in East End hosted its 18th Easter concert in celebration of the Resurrection Season 2018.
The main event had as a prelude a short presentation by the St. Augustine’s Youth Choir, led by Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch and Sandra Liddie. Their ministry in song served to whet the appetites of the audience for the spiritual feast of what was to come.
When it was time for the adult Chorale’s performance, led by the proficient directorship of Mr. Lennox Vanterpool, the audience was eager, as it is every year, to relish the inspiration of song after song. This year the concert presentation was entitled: “Lion of Judah…Calvary’s Lamb”. It is a praise and worship work of fifteen-songs created by Sue Smith, David Moffitt and Travis Cottrell.
It is reckoned that the 25-plus member Chorale did great justice, as always, to these exuberant renditions. Equally so, the professional musical accompaniment of the St. Augustine’s Orchestra added a rich essence to each selection. Members of the Orchestra, which includes Kimba Southwell on piano, Curtis Robinson on bass, Kasem Thompson on drums, and Gordon Hazel, are to be complimented for their magnificent talents.
Both the Youth and Adult Chorales received rave reviews after the entire evening’s event, as they stood to receive high praise and commendation from the appreciative audience which had packed the sanctuary.
The St. Augustine’s Chorale stages two concerts each year: the Easter and Christmas seasons. As is customary, a repeat of Last Sunday’s event will take place at the same venue on Sunday, April 15th at 5:00 p.m.
