As the Royal Anguilla Police Force continues the Professional Development of its officers, ten (10) officers recently benefited from a one week Traffic Collision Investigation Course.
During the five (5) days of training officers were exposed to various measurement methods that could be utilized during the investigation of a traffic collision as well as the gathering and recording of evidence at the scene.
“This is a very timely training program,” said Acting Commissioner of Police Elliott Forbes. “The RAPF recognizes the importance of the need to continuously develop the capacity and skills of its officers and this course will serve as a catalyst for improvement in the investigation of collisions and the presentation of evidence in court. The officers are now more equipped and can execute their duty with more confidence and professionalism”.
Participants were also engaged in a number of practical exercises where they were able to demonstrate that they had indeed grasped the skills taught.
The training was conducted by recently retired member of the Royal Barbados Police Service, Mr. Roger Mayers of Crash Recon Services Barbados. Mr. Mayer has in the past assisted the RAPF with the investigation of fatal collisions in Anguilla.
