The Valley Street Festival, one of the most recent cultural events embarked on in Anguilla, has seen the involvement of various cultural and small business groups on the island. It has also become a growing attraction for members of the general public as well as visitors looking for places to go and events to attend.

The latest such festival, was held on Saturday, July 7, at its regular venue: between the People’s Market and Kenn’s Barbecue Grill and also taking in the grounds of the Scouts and Guides Ruthwill Auditorium.

The event is organised mainly by the Anguilla Tourist Board and its partners: the Department of Youth and Culture; the Department of Agriculture and the Anguilla National Cultural Arts Association. This time, the Valley Street Festival also embraced the Anguilla Cycling Association and LIME, its platinum sponsor, for the John T Memorial Cycling Race.

As usual, there was a large turnout at the 10.00 am to 6.00 pm event. It featured the Tourist Board’s signature rainbow stalls where vendors displayed a wide range of products which included paintings, pottery, sculpture and other arts and craft work.

Other stalls provided agricultural products and a variety of barbecued, baked and fried delicacies. Elsewhere the festival featured games and other entertainment including string band and steel band music.
