The privately-run Central Baptist Christian School is continuing to make strides in the development of education. Its latest success was the graduation of twenty of its Sixth Grade students on Monday this week.
They will be among many graduates from other Primary Schools who will enter Campus B of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School in September.
Principal of Central Christian School, Andrew Blake, his Staff and Board of Directors, were pleased to present the graduating students to a large number of parents and other members of the public who attended the graduation ceremony.
The event commenced with an impressive, and flag-bearing, procession from the entrance of theCentralBaptistChurchto the school’s platform, where the students lustily sang their graduation song “God’s word Shall Stand.”
Noted Guest Speaker and Principal of Morlen’s Architectural Services, Vanburn Brooks, captivated both the audience and the students with his feature address. He spoke on eight points, derived from the word “graduate”, regarding what is expected of the graduates as they transfer to their new school. Those points were: growing, ready, adapt, discipline, understanding, ability, training and etiquette. “Because of my profession, I particularly like your graduation theme, ‘Building steps to success” as you have to climb to get to your success,’ he said.
He climaxed his address this way: “You are about to be exposed to gangs, drugs and violence, but you can rise above all of that by remembering your fundamentals. Remember what your teachers and parents taught you; whatCentralChristianSchoolexpects from you. Do not follow the crowd…It is okay to have different opinions to others. Be courteous, be kind; be different. Remember to stand tall even when you are ridiculed and pressured by the other children. Work hard, remember your etiquette…training in the Scriptures, …and your steps to success will be lighter.”
The graduates received a number of diplomas and awards for outstanding performance in sports, education and other areas of school life. The presentations were made by Principal Andrew Blake assisted by Teacher Ross Guishard.
The graduates, including the Valedictorian, Myisha Letang, received much commendation from the cheering audience.
