The Department of Probation hosted a one-week attachment for Senior Probation Officer – Ms Scherrie Griffin – from the BVI from June 26th to June 30th 2017. Ms. Griffin had a packed schedule in order to ensure that she was exposed to the full scope of the Department’s operations as well as its stakeholder engagement. On Wednesday 28th June, Ms. Griffin paid a courtesy visit to the PS Health and Social Development, Mr. Foster Rogers. Additionally, she participated in a Policy Writing Skills Workshop which was facilitated by Mr. Rolandson Lynch, Senior Probation Officer.
At the close of the week, Ms. Griffin expressed thanks to Ms. Jocelyn Johnson, and staff of the Department of Probation, for the experience. She was impressed with the level of autonomy afforded the Department in carrying out its mandate, and commended the work of Zenaida Haven having met and interacted with staff and residents there.

Ms. Johnson would like to take this opportunity to extend thanks to Ms. Clinara Bryan, Senior Clerical Officer of the Department for her assistance in making logistical and related arrangements to facilitate Ms. Griffin’s visit. Further, Ms. Johnson would like to thank Senior Probation Officers, Ms. Christine Brooks and Mr. Rolandson Lynch who were instrumental in creating the schedule for Ms. Griffin’s on site visits.
This is the second such attachment that the Department has hosted. In 2011, it hosted a three-month attachment for Mr. Stanford Kelly, the first Probation Officer from the Department of Social Welfare in Montserrat.
