The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Council Member, Mr. Stanley Reid, was amongst University and other officials, including University Chancellor, Sir George Alleyne, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Campus Council Chairman (Ag.), Dr. Lennox Honychurch, and the Pro-Vice Chancellors and Principals of all the four campuses in attendance at the annual Council Meeting of The UWI Open Campus on Friday, March 17, 2017 in Belize.
Campus Councils are the governing and executive bodies of the individual campuses of the UWI with powers vested by the University Council, to manage all matters as prescribed in Statute 21 and subject to The UWI’s Charter.
During the meeting, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the UWI Open Campus, Dr. Luz Longsworth presented the 2015/2016 Annual Report, outlining activities related to the financial, administrative and academic undertakings and achievements of the Open Campus during the past academic year. Remarks also came from Dr. Honychurch who assumed the interim Chairmanship following the recent passing of former Chairman, Sir K. Dwight Venner.
While in Belize, Mr. Reid, who is also the President of the UWI Alumni Association – Anguilla Chapter, also attended the Induction Ceremony of the third Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Open Campus, Dr. Luz Longsworth. Dr. Longsworth is also the Campus’ third female leader.
