In honour of Black History Month, the staff of the Vivien Vanterpool Primary School focused on recognizing the efforts, achievements and contributions of local iconic figures rather than the usual heroes and heroines.

On Monday 22nd February, upon request of Tr. Deverelle and her Grade 2 class, the students and staff of the Vivien Vanterpool Primary School had the pleasure of culminating their series of Black History Month activities with a presentation from one of our very own local heroes, Mr. Trevor ‘Rasbucket’ Davis.
Tr. Rasbucket, as he is affectionately known among the school populace, was welcomed with a tear jerking acrostic poem:
MR. Rasbucket
R – A runner who ran all the way to the Olympics in 1996
A – We were all proud when we heard Anguilla was in that mix
S – He sprinted across the tracks in Atlanta
B – He did his best and that made us even prouder
U – undeniably the best
C – He is caring and committed
K – A kind & humble man who never allowed fame get to his head
E – shows great enthusiasm about his achievements and love for country
T – A top athlete who hardly got defeated
In his presentation, Mr. Trevor ‘Rasbucket’ Davis, described his years of service to Anguilla in the area of athletics. He offered sound advice to the students, especially aspiring athletes, to never give up. Throughout his presentation he echoed the message of hope, love for country, and many other virtues for a successful life.

The principal, staff and students of the Vivien Vanterpool Primary School, would like to offer sincere appreciation to Mr. Trevor ‘Rasbucket’ Davis. It was a pleasure sharing this moment with you. You are truly an admirable figure to us all.
