The Hope For Today’s Crisis Gospel Explosion Crusade got underway on Saturday, February 4, with a grand Gospel Concert under the big yellow and white tent across from FLOW in The Valley.
Various local artistes were featured at the event. They included Jemima Romney, Joseph Pradel, Gershwin Lake, Evan Webster, Caledah Hull, Alfredo Trinidad, Leecia Hill and others. The performances were well received by the large and appreciative crowd. Among those in attendance were the Honourable Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge, Minister of Home Affairs, who officially declared the crusade open, and the Honourable Mrs Evalie Bradley, Ministerial Assistant.
Referring to the theme of the Seventh-day Adventist crusade, Mrs Richardson-Hodge defined a crisis as a dramatic emotional or substantial upheaval in a person’s life or an unfavourable period especially one of extreme trouble or danger in politics, economics, etc. She continued: “When you are feeling lost and alone, disappointed and despondent, hurt and afraid, you must turn to the Lord our God to guide you through whatever it is that you are facing.” She made reference to Deuteronomy 31:6 which states: Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
“The speakers and presentations during this crusade will focus on hope and how each of us can deal with a crisis in our lives. I am excited about this and I know that you are too,” the Government Minister added.
Also in attendance were Dr. Vincent David, the Chaplaincy and Youth Director of the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, who introduced Dr. Henry Peters, the Evangelist for the crusade.
Dr. Peters serves in the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as the Personal Ministries, Sabbath School, Community Services and Evangelism Director, as well as Missions Coordinator. He previously served as the District Pastor in Anguilla during the mid 80s to early 90s. He is accompanied by his wife, Mrs Margaret Peters, the Children’s and Women’s Ministries Director of the Conference.
The evangelistic meetings are continuing nightly at 7:00 except Thursdays and Saturdays.
