When visitors come to Anguilla and interact with Mr. Shawn Romney, a Tennis Pro at Cap Juluca, they learn a lot about Anguilla than that which meets the eyes. While engaged in a game of tennis, Mr. Romney delights in sharing information about Anguilla’s gems – our children. Mr. Romney is an advocate for helping children to reach their full potential. When asked, he shares with visitors his ideas on how they can contribute to the cause of educating our young people.
One such occasion arose recently, and on Wednesday 7th, December, 2016 he received a tangible response. Mr. Marc Keller handed him a cheque of $1000.00 US dollars to be given to the National Special Education Needs Fund which is managed by the Department of Education. The cheque was delivered by Mr. Romney and handed over to the Developing Our Vision for Education (DOVE 2) facility. The facility is an extension of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School and is located in the Auckland Kentish Building in The Quarter. It serves children of secondary school age who have profound and multiple disabilities. The Department of Education expresses thanks to Mr. Shawn Romney for his advocacy, and Mr. Marc Keller for his financial contribution towards further improvement of Special Education services in Anguilla.
Donations are always welcomed and can be made to the National SEN Fund or contact the Department of Education at 497-2874/2975.
