Dr. Bonnie Richardson – Lake

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Development, Dr. Bonnie Lake-Richardson, has said goodbye to her colleagues in the health sector as she prepares for her transfer in January 2017.

She is among a number of Permanent Secretaries who will be taking up other appointments at the beginning of the New Year. She will assume responsibilities for Education, Sports, Youth and Culture, and Library Services. The current holder of the post is Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Chanelle Petty Barrett who will take up duties in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

While delivering an address at the opening ceremony of the review of the National Strategic Health Plan, on December 1, Dr. Richardson-Lake told the health professionals: “I would like to say special thanks to all of you I have worked with over the years. After nearly sixteen years working in health, I will miss it but I look forward to the new experience. I leave you in the very capable hands of Mr. Foster Rogers who is familiar to you all and who also has years of experience in the health sector.”

Replying on behalf of her colleagues, Health Planner, Mrs. Maeza Demis Adams stated: “I wish to thank the Permanent Secretary for her tenure of dedicated service. I think it is only fitting in this forum that we should give her a round of applause for her hard work. She has really supported us at the Ministry where there is a fairly young team of women. We work very well as a team. She has given us the autonomy and supported everything that we did – and has been always there to provide advice. As a Manager, we give her kudos for an excellent job.”
