One of the organisers of the November 11-13 event in Anguilla dubbed ‘Livin’ in the Sun’ Musical Festival, Ms. Simone Connor, is looking forward to an even better production next year.
Ms. Connor, a family operator of Sandy Island, an offshore tourist retreat cay west of Road Bay, was at the time speaking at The Valley Street Festival. There, she was showcasing various sets of still photographs taken of activities of the first ‘Livin’ in the Sun’ Festival.
“The festival was a complete success for us, although we did not get the numbers we anticipated, but we gained valuable knowledge and exposure not just for the festival but for Anguilla as well,” she informed The Anguillian. “Many people have described the festival as unique and authentic and we received only positive feedback from everyone who attended. They said the food and beverage service was on point; the music and calibre of the artistes was exceptionally high – something I can say myself; and the grouping of events was just spectacular. I think that we made a very good impression.
“The world will be looking to see what we will do next year, and I am hoping that the message will go far and wide that Anguilla is the place to be from the beginning and towards the end of November because we are living in the sun.”
Ms. Connor said plans were already being made for next year’s festival. “We are going to do it the very same way, but just better,” she pledged.
Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism, Mr. Cardigan Connor, commented: “My biggest disappointment is that I wasn’t in Anguilla at the time. I was in England where Ministers of Tourism from the Caribbean were at a number of meetings that week.
“However, from the information I received, the reports were nothing but positive. I have to commend Simone, her family, and the entire group, for actually marketing Anguilla through the ‘Livin’ in the Sun’ Festival. I think it was a great accomplishment.”
