Message from the president
The Anguilla Amateur Bodybuilding federation recently had its annual elections and elected a new executive board to lead the association into 2017. This new executive team consist of Duquaine Brooks (President), Valencia Williams (Vice President), Riorita Warner-Browne (Secretary), Arniva Richardson (Treasurer) and Hilroy Alfred (Athletes Rep).
On assuming our role as the new board, we would like to take this opportunity to highlight our aims and objectives for 2017
To increase membership
How:
- More proactive approach to recruitment along with increased membership benefits such as gym membership and other discounts.
- Interested persons are welcomed to attend meetings to register or contact any existing athlete or board member for information on how to become a member.
To promote a spirit of togetherness and comradery between athletes.
How:
- More social activities and bonding opportunities for athletes.
- Increased emphasis on teamwork
To promote the overall development of new and existing athletes.
How:
- Provide opportunities both locally and internationally, for further development.
- Negotiate and secure funding from individuals and organizations supportive of the goals of the Federation. To become a sponsor contact any member of the board.
To promote the sport of bodybuilding and fitness
How:
- Organize the Annual Local Bodybuilding and Fitness Competition and promote other local fitness initiatives.
To increase participation in the local Bodybuilding show
How:
- Introduction of new categories such as Masters Mens Physique, Masters Women Bikini, Junior Physique, Junior Bikini, Novice Classes and reintroduction of Womens Body Fitness.
To Increase visibility and media presence
How:
- Increase social media presence: Instagram @Axaabff , Facebook “Axaabff Asn”, #Axaabff
- Increased community activity and information sharing
Ensure accountability and transparency
How:
- Conduct all business in an open and verifiable manner and keep accurate financial records
To promote discipline and behaviors consistent with the code of conduct
How:
- Discipline Members whose acts are judged contrary to the Constitution and Rules.
To promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle to the community at large.
How:
- Encourage healthy eating and regular exercise through initiatives such as our fundraiser bootcamps, food sales and fitness exhibitions.
