The Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority is pleased to inform the Anguilla public that in response to the Variation of the Aerodrome Certificate that has been effective from Sunday, 21 August 2016 at 11:59pm at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport, the Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority has enlisted the services of Mr. Allen Barnett, a specialist with a wealth of aviation management skills, knowledge and experience in resolving airport regulatory matters.
Mr. Barnett was born in Northern Ireland but built his career in Montreal, Canada. He is a former Airport Manager of Montserrat and has more than 40 years of experience in Air Traffic Control, Airport Management, Airport Certification and Commercial Aviation operations in various jurisdictions.
Mr. Barnett has joined the Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority’s team at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport on contract as team leader for a period of six months as the Authority moves purposefully to rectify the immediate safety and security deficiencies at the Airport that led to the restriction of its operations. His immediate mission is to correct the identified weaknesses and address the findings from inspections by the regulators of the quality and effectiveness of the security and safety systems at the Airport, carried out in April and August 2016 and thereby enable the lifting of the restrictions at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport.
Mr. Barnett will also advise on and lead the implementation of expanded structures and processes that will ensure proper maintenance and sustainability of the safety and security operations at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport and ensure that they remain at or above the required standards set out in the regulations and are consistent with best practices.
The Board of Directors of the Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority and the management and staff at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport are happy to welcome Mr. Barnett. He will set to work immediately. We emphasize that the Authority’s immediate goal with Mr. Barnett’s help is to achieve the reissue of the Airport’s operating certificate without restrictions in as short a time as possible and before the onset of the earliest uptick in air travel before the commencement of Anguilla’s 2016-2017 tourist season.
