Labour Day was observed in Anguilla with a large and colourful crowd and eleven competing teams, participating in Fun Day 2012 at the Ronald Webster Park.

Writing about the event, Winston Duncan reported that “while the crowd enjoyed almost every activity, a sense of euphoria swept through the spectators as the big three competitors, Cap Juluca, Viceroy and CuisinArt, dominated the competition.”

Through much hard work and skill, the Cap Juluca team succeeded in the tug of war finals and won all the other major awards, thus taking first place and becoming the 2012 Fun Day Champions.

The positions taken by the other teams were as follows: Government .ai  2nd; National Bank of Anguilla 3rd; Anguilla Teachers Union 4th; Viceroy 5th; ANGLEC 6th; CuisinArt 7th; Legal 8th; Malliouhana Insurance 9th; Customs 10th; and Jumeirah 11th.

The Anguilla Amateur Athletics Federation has offered thanks to all of the teams which participated in this year’s event.

All funds raised will be used for sending athletes to various regional and international track and field competitions later this year. Among those events will be the Leeward Islands Junior Track and Field meet in Tortola.
