Digicel's Country Manager, John Gidharry

Digicel has launched a new promotion called Be In the race to London, in keeping with the theme for the Olympic Games there this year.

“What it simply means is that we have partnered with Samsung, a long provider of our products. They now do Tablets, have Android phones and regular handsets, depending on what customers want,” Digicel’s Country Manager, John Gidharry, told reporters on Friday, April 27.

“With the purchase of any of our Samsung handsets, on a prepaid or post-paid plan, over the next month and a half, up to the end of June, customers will get a chance to win a 40-inch hi-definition flat screen television set.

“We also have a series of other promotions including “Grab for Gold” and “Be the first for Gold”. These will be launched later on as we go along. The series of promotions will actually be in keeping with the Olympics.”

Mr. Gidharry said Digicel was supporting theCaribbean’s own Olympic star, Jamaican Usain Bolt, a partner of the telecommunications company, involved in the games.

“He is the world’s fastest man and he has been affiliated with Digicel for the last four years, long before he became the world’s fastest man,” Gidharry said. “He has been a partner in the business, and continues to support us and we will support him moving forward.”

The Digicel Country Manager said that the prizes to be won by customers, during the promotion of the Olympics, would include a signature book by Usain Bolt on his dream and legacy; t-shirts, banners and cups.

“With no further duration, I officially regard this day, Friday, April 27, as the launch of Be in the race to London,” Mr. Gidharry added. “We encourage our potential customers to come into our stores and let us make it a big time moving forward.”
