Coral Gables, FL – February 26, 2016 – A 10-page Hemisphere (United Airlines inflight magazine) article spotlighting Anguilla’s annual boatraces and rich marine culture was recognized by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association (HSMAI) with a gold Adrian Award in the category of Feature Placement Print: Consumer Magazine or Newspaper. The feature story was a direct result of a Cheryl Andrews Marketing Communications coordinated and ATB hosted media visit for writer James Sturz and photographer Thomas Prior, in August 2014.
The feature story provided readers with a behind-the-scenes look at Anguilla’s talented boat builders, the unique art of boatracing, the history and culture of the sport, the highly anticipated “Champions of Champions” race and the competitive spirit of the participants and their supporters. Additionally, Anguilla’s Carnival, with captivating images of the island’s street parade complete with costumed dancers and event participants was also shared.
Recognizing the importance of showcasing Anguilla’s unique cultural offerings beyond the island’s scenic beaches, the agency sourced and secured this targeted media opportunity that would be tied to the island celebrating the 75th anniversary of boatracing as the national sport. The highly sought-after Adrian award culminated a two-plus year tenure of nearly five billion media impressions secured during the agency’s representation of the destination. During that time, the agency positioned Anguilla as the “must-see” destination and “first-in-mind” choice for travel writers, editors, broadcast producers, bloggers and social media influencers reporting on consumer travel.
The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association (HSMAI) Adrian Awards honors creative brilliance and best practices in hospitality, travel, and tourism–related marketing.
