It was graduation day for 167 students from the Fifth Form of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School on Wednesday evening, October 21.
The event followed the recent CXC examinations; the entry into the Sixth Form of a number of the students; the entry of others into the job market; and the joining of the unemployed ranks by a number of others.
It was the 26th Year Five Graduation Ceremony and was held at the Rodney MacArthur Rey Auditorium, under the theme: “Educated, Motivated & Resilient: Ready for New Beginnings”.
The graduation ceremony was chaired by Mr. Foster Rogers, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development; and the Keynote Address was delivered by Mrs. Vida Lloyd-Richardson of DaVida Restaurant.
The presentation of Awards was done by the newly-appointed Principal, Mrs. Joyce Webster Stuart, and the Certificates were distributed by Former Principal, Mrs. Ingrid Lake. Both of them congratulated the graduates on their performance. They were assisted by Mrs. K. Hall; Ms. D. Massiah; and Mrs. F. Campbell-Toussaint.
The awards were sponsored by various business places in Anguilla. The Most Outstanding Graduate was Arielle Gaskin; and the winner of the Chezroy Desuza Trophy was Shibari Reid. Best CXC Results and the Calder Simon Award went to Khesim Reid.
The Valedictory Speeches were delivered by Arielle Gaskin and Khesim Reid.
The programme included various performances by the Albena Lake-Hodge Concert Band and the school’s Steel Orchestra and Choir. The graduation ceremony was attended by a capacity crowd comprising Government and Education officials, parents, guardians, and other members of the general public.
