The Rotary Club of Anguilla celebrated the installation of a new President and Board with a luncheon at The Place at Rendezvous Bay on Saturday July 11. It was attended by Rotarians, family and friends and several Rotarians from St Maarten including Assistant District Governor Louis Wever and three presidents; President of Sunrise Club Marcellia Henry, President of Mid-isle David Antrobus and Jeffrey Sochrin from the Rotary Club of St Maarten.
Following the lunch a toast was made to the Queen by Rotarian Jacquie Ruan, a toast to Anguilla by Don Mitchell and a toast to Rotary International by Louis Wever. Outgoing President Seymour Hodge outlined some of the projects during the past year that included the construction of a home for a visually challenged young man, the feeding programme at the Alwyn Allison Primary School, and tutoring at WISE (Workshop Initiative for Support in Education). He said he had confidence that the new president, Genefa Fedee, would take the Club to greater heights and continue the 37 years of service the Club had given to Anguilla. He thanked his Board and other members for their support.
The installation of the new president was executed by Seymour Hodge who placed the chain of office on Genefa Fedee, and Louis Wever who pinned the President’s badge on her. Genefa congratulated Seymour and the past Board saying that she was extremely honoured and pleased to be president. She assured members that the new Board would serve with vision and passion.
The main project planned for this year is to raise funds for equipment for a blood bank, at the Princess Alexandra Hospital which is much needed.The project will be launched on Monday August 10.
Certificates were presented to Rotarians who excelled during the past year. The Rotarian of the Year award was presented to Seymour Hodge for his exceptional contribution to the Club. Two new members were inducted into the Club. Before and during the lunch a silent auction was held to raise funds for the food programme at the Alwyn Allison Primary School. Prizes for the raffle and the auction were presented to the winners.
