At a Mother’s Day Service at the Central Baptist Church, on Sunday, May 10, Senior Minister, Pastor Cecil Richardson, called on the womenfolk of Anguilla to pray for their children.
He was at the time delivering a sermon on the role of mothers and the responsibility of children.
He outlined how women, as wives and mothers, should order their lives in the home and how children should respect not only their mothers, but both parents as well. He placed much emphasis on the role of mothers in that they are the ones on whom much of the burden rests to care for, and to bring up, their children in the family home.
The pastor cautioned mothers to pay particular attention to their sons, noting the rise of gangs and violence in Anguilla. He pointed to situations where a number of young men had died in the prime of their lives while others were confined to wheelchairs.
“Sit down and talk with your children and ask them to stay away from that kind of company,” he advised. “[Tell them] I don’t want to push you around in a wheelchair. I don’t want you to get involved in this gang because once you in, you can’t get out.”
The pastor added: “Moms, pray for your children, and for God’s divine protection of them as they drive or walk around.”
