Many persons could have been without electricity in the Stoney Ground area on Wednesday morning, May 6, had it not been for the swift action of a number of community-minded persons.
The fire, of unknown origin, flared up on the grass at the base of a high tension pole on the Reuben Hodge (Cauls Pond) Road and quickly began to spread.
A number of young men in the area, using buckets of water, from private sources, drenched the fire and were soon able to put it out. It was extinguished by the time the tender from the Anguilla Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene.
