Former Chief Minister of Anguilla, Mr. Osbourne Fleming, has expressed thanks and appreciation to Anguillians residing abroad who returned home to vote in the general election held on Wednesday, April 22.
Mr. Fleming was at the time addressing a mammoth rally at Blowing Point, where he endorsed Mr. Curtis Richardson, the Road South candidate, of the Anguilla United Front (AUF).
Speaking on behalf of the AUF, Mr. Fleming stated: “I wish to say thanks to all the Anguillians who have come from overseas to exercise their democratic right. A lot of you have made sacrifices to be here. But you came not to Victor Banks, or Curtis Richardson, or Niel Rogers or Evalie Bradley, or Cardigan Connor or Othlyn Vanterpool. You came for Anguilla; and we thank you.
“I have never seen an enthusiasm from Anguillians overseas as I have seen this time. There is a reason for that: the Anguillians overseas love their country and boasted for years about their country especially between 2000 and 2010. And now, when they see and hear how our country has gone down, they have come from everywhere to ensure that Anguilla is restored to what it used to be.”
