With Yellow House holding the leading points, and the other Houses also having competitive scores in the LIME Anguilla-sponsored Inter-House Athletic Competition, all five teams converged on the Ronald Webster Park in a show of defiance and strength on Wednesday morning.
Accompanied by their colourfully-attired cheerleaders and led by the Pathfinders’ Drum band, the teams from the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, drew much applause from the large assembly of fans, supporters, including their teachers and Government officials.
The teams were addressed by the outgoing Principal, Mrs. Ingrid Lake, who witnessed her final Sports Day function and is retiring at year-end. A former member of Yellow House, Mrs. Lake had been an exceptional player during her school days.
The athletes were also addressed by Mrs. Chanelle Petty Barrett, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, who offered advice and best wishes to the teams, thanked the Principal for her leadership at the Comprehensive School; LIME and other donors for their sponsorship; and declared open the Sports Day event.
Ms Jade Reymond, Marketing Manager for LIME Anguilla, expressed the company’s delight in being the platinum Sports Day sponsor over the years. She assured the athletes of LIME’s strong support for youth development.
Yellow House won with a score of 1016 point followed by: Purple House: 926 points; Maroon House: 925 points; Pink House: 895 points and Orange House: 652 points.
