Members of the Royal Anguilla Police Rank and file were on Monday 30th March, 2015 advised of their role and responsibility for Election Day 2015.
The advice came from the Supervisor of Elections, Ms. Aurjul Wilson who was addressing the officers at the Police Training Room at a special organized meeting.
Ms. Wilson said, “The police will be responsible for uniformity of enforcement of the rules and regulations governing the conduct of elections on Election Day at the twenty (20) polling stations across Anguilla.”
Ms. Wilson further stated, “The police will be expected to be vigilant whilst carrying out your duty of maintaining law and order to ensure that persons are not dis-enfranchised, interfered with or influenced whilst in the queue to vote.”
The officers were also informed of some of the duties, responsibilities and restrictions as it relates to the Presiding Officers, candidates as well as their agents on Election Day at the various polling stations.
Ms. Wilson completed her presentation to the police by encouraging them to vote early on Election Day.
Polling stations on Election Day opens at 6:00 am and closes at 7:00 pm.
