On Wednesday, February 18, LIME Anguilla launched the first phase of an Upgrade to its Superfast Broadband service, putting the island well ahead of most of its Caribbean neighbours.
Mr Mathieu Dion, LIME Anguilla’s Country Manager, spoke to media representatives about the new and highly-improved service, using fibre-optic cable. “We are actually launching our Superfast Broadband service that we have been working on for the last few months,” he said. “We are very excited. I think people in Anguilla are going to change the way they use the internet and of course this will open a lot of doors and opportunities.” He described the broadband expansion as a “long-awaited residential solution.”
Ms Jade Reymond, LIME Anguilla’s Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager, and Mr Larry Stott, the Operations Service Manager, were also at the launch. “We are basically welcoming our customers to this life which we call ‘superfast’ which is to enhance and upgrade our customers’ experience using our internet services,” she told the media. “We are officially launching in The Valley Central, South Hill, Blowing Point and West End. Over the coming months, we will eventually roll out into the rest of the island.
“We have upgraded our speeds to six times faster than what we currently offer our customers. They will now experience speeds up to 48 Megs which has never-before been seen on the island…Our existing customers will experience a free upgrade over the next three months…After that, they will be introduced to the new pricing for our packages. New customers will also get a free trial of the speed for the next three months with free installation, free modem as well as having the option to choose from packages ranging from six Megs to 48 Megs.
“We have four packages: 6 Megs package for $124.99; 12 Megs package fors $179.00; 24 Megs package for $249.99; and 48 Megs package for $349.99.”
Ms Reymond added: “We are extremely pleased to be able to bring these speeds to our customers as this will not only be an enjoyable experience. It definitely allows our customers to upgrade with the technologies that are offered on a global scale.”
The entire island-wide Superfast Broadband upgrade carries an investment of some twenty million US dollars. The current first phase costs about half of that price.
