A newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer, in the person of Mr George Brown, of Jamaica, has been given a three-year contract by the Health Authority of Anguilla to help administer and steer the statutory organisation.
He is the second person to have been fully appointed to that post, the first being a national of St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Ms Darlene Baptiste. Over the past few years, two Anguillians, Mr Ralph Hodge, and Mrs Meridith Gumbs, have held acting appointments.
Mr Brown previously served at the University Hospital of the West Indies, where he was in charge of administration, planning, development and strategic management. He commenced his duties this week with familiarisation meetings with senior managers and other leading personnel of the Health Authority and members of the governing Board of Directors.
As time progresses, he hopes to work towards a strategic and business plan for the Health Authority and the development of other areas of service and administration.
“This is a three-year contract, so I must deliver within that time,” he added during a media interview.
