The walk, on Friday evening, October 24, was organised by the Anguilla Cancer Society. It commenced at the Gazebo – on the grounds of the Scouts and Guides Ruthwill Auditorium – and continued along the Edwin Wallace Rey Drive at George Hill, across the North Hill Road, up the Rev Leonard Carty Drive, down The Valley and back to the starting point.

The main sponsor of the event, including the supply of t-shirts and other necessities, was LIME Anguilla which donated US$5,000 to the cause.

President of the Cancer Society and Senior Health Educator, Mrs Jennifer Gumbs, said work was now to be concentrated on the provision of breast and prostate cancer awareness billboards during the rest of the year.

Meanwhile, according to Mrs Gumbs, there is a need for additional sponsorship for breast cancer awareness activities.

She said the Cancer Society sold over seven hundred and fifty t-shirts, but at a loss of two dollars each. She was, however, pleased with the response by many persons who purchased and wore them on “think pink Friday” – the rallying colour of breast cancer awareness day.
